Love this kind of wrap-up and well done on reaching 300! I just crossed 200 and appreciate the reminder of how jazzed I’d be with that many in person. Substack is a community I’m glad to have joined. Also, if you are ever in Asheville, NC stop by one of the Biscuit Head locations and try their cat head biscuit. 🎉
Such a beautiful post, Holly - I've enjoyed revisiting my thoughts about all of your posts from the last quarter, and that was such a lovely thing to do on this rather grey UK afternoon! My two favourite posts - like picking a favourite child: not really possible! - have been 'Emmanuel', which moved me to tears, and 'Weight limit exceeded', which showed you as a phenomenal writer able to weave different things together so smoothly that the joins weren't even there.
Your 300-subscriber milestone delights me - not just for you, but for them! And that's pure, organic growth unassisted by sources such as social media, so 🙌! I'm the same (not yet 300 though!) - and initially I'd worried that my social media allergy would have rendered me lost under the radar - but it's really nice to know that subscribers come along despite that!
You've made my Saturday, Holly. I always look forward to your posts, and this one is taking me TWO cups of tea to enjoy, because of all of those fabulous links. THANK YOU. ♥️
Enjoy those writer recommendations--they are so good! If I could bottle up and send you some of this sunshine we’re getting today, I would.
I think we writers with smaller subscriptions need reminders that it’s okay to grow our own way, and growing by a subscriber or two a week is still growth! I just think Dear Reader, I’m Lost is one of the best kept secrets on Substack!
Congratulations on 300 subscribers, Holly!!! That's no small thing! Not in a yoga studio or in Substackland (Substackia? Substackville? Substacktopia?). I couldn't possibly choose a favorite piece of writing from this quarter because they all moved me in some way. :) Also, love to meet another writer who doesn't promote on social (same here) and adore that you send handwritten notes. I'm off to check out the new-to-me writers you've recommended here! xo
Great post Holly! Congrats on 300 subscribers. I knew it wouldn't take long for you to reach it. You always have a way with the words that you compose for each posting. I always look forward to your posts. Picking a favorite from the quarter is too hard. So I'll take them all. As you'll remember, a few of your posts brought me to tears. I think when people are going through tough times, some of these stories can lift you up and show you that maybe you don't have it as bad as you thought.
OHhhhhhh, so that is a Cathead Biscuit! I was going to research it after I read your piece-you had me so intrigued. 300 people (me being one of them) are so much richer for your presence in our lives. Your kindness, authenticity, and beautiful writing in your own pieces stand alone as a prize, but there's also the added bonus of your beyond-excellent descriptions of the Substack sites of others.
My grandmother used to make these biscuits, and a few years ago I made pans and pans of biscuits until I got mine as near hers as possible. It doesn’t bring her back, but it does make me feel she’s a little closer when I’m making them.
Love this! My grandma made "Refrigerator Cookies," and I too have tried to get mine as close to hers, but I guess the missing ingredient, is "her." How lucky we were to have two Grandmas who loved us and we them.
Congratulations of the 300 subscribers, Holly! And many thanks for the shout out to Technocomplex. I have to admit that I have never heard of a Cathead Biscuit, but I'm willing to try one. The gravy I can only imagine. We have a diner called Elmo's in town, and I always have the biscuits and gravy, cholesterol and all! Funny, but I, too, am finding it difficult to keep up with the reading. Perhaps it's early Spring and the distractions of the outdoors.
My grandmother never made gravy in the mornings with biscuits--we had syrup, jelly, or just butter. She often made a skillet of biscuits with dinner and would make gravy from the drippings of the chicken she fried. Delicious!
Thank you for the mention, Holly! You may be able to go into the biscuit business with all of your free time (ha!). Appreciate your posts much. And 300! Wowza! Not surprised at all.

We frequent Asheville every 2-3 years. I’ll definitely have to check out Biscuit Head!
I live in Asheville! Next time you're heading here, let me know. ☺️
I’ll do that!
Congrats on hitting 300! That's awesome.
My faves? That's a tough call. If forced to pick, I'd go with:
The Slower Route- I'm a sucker for a good road trip, but maybe more so, this was a good reminder to just slow the F down once in awhile...
...and in a world full of perfectly posed/manicured shots, sometimes the best ones come from sticking your phone out of the sunroof.
Lamin's a VERY close second. Love wins. Every time.
Jen's newsletter is awesome, as is Leo's! You probably already saw it, but he has a music one as well that you may enjoy.
YES! We’re headed to Cincinnati this week, and you just reminded me to take some sunroof shots!
I’ll have to check out Leo’s other ‘stack. Not sure how I missed that. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for the sunshine, Holly! I'm a follower of some of your recommended writers already, but I've subscribed to two more thanks to you!
And that's such a very kind thing to say about my newsletter - thank you so much. 😊

So glad you you’re enjoying the pieces, and I vote for “Substackia!” 🤣
Mike is truly amazing. And congrats on 300! Every milestone is a milestone. Onward and upward.
Thanks, Michael!
Thanks for the shout out, Holly! And congrats on 300 subscribers! That's super exciting, especially given the organic nature of the growth.
I love that you post on the weekend -- I always look forward to reading your stories while drinking my morning coffee.
Coffee time is also my favorite time to read Substacks!

Congratulations and well done! Thanks for the roundup - I've missed most of it, being a recent subscriber by way of @Michael Estrin
Welcome! I’m keeping my eye on you since you came over by way of Michael. 😏
Love the format!, congrats on 300!
Thanks!

Thanks! You will! Just keep writing.
I look forward to digging in to this!
Congrats on the big milestone! I’m close to 100 after being featured by Bill from Understandably, which I’m very thankful for.
I must have missed that one--please share the link if you have it handy!
Here you go, Holly!

Ha! I don’t cook biscuits often. They are a “sometimes food.”
