I love this post for so many different reasons. First off, being home awaiting the wildfire's whims, we are running out of fresh food, and don't really want to buy much just in case we are forced to leave. So the chicken dish sounds great. Plan to take some chicken out from the freezer and give that recipe a try. Secondly the books sound amazing. I love winning anything, and I'm actually pretty lucky. Not sure if you have Grocery Outlets where you live? We can submit our receipt with our name and number on the back to be entered in a drawing to win the amount we saved on the receipt. I religiously returned my receipts for over a year telling my husband I was going to win. And one day I got the call from Grocery Outlet, woohoo. Won $143 in groceries. So I'm in for the drawing, and whether or not I win, I'm checking out those books. They sound amazing. And lastly, that art... thanks for sharing that. I love the idea of the seeds. Beautiful. Thanks for giving me something entertaining and enjoyable to read during these waiting days.

I’m cheating until I can learn to make it--I went to Trader Joe’s today for their light roast coffee and found chocolate babka in their bakery. 😳 Shhh...don’t tell Jack...

Well, Holly, you had me at broccoli melts, but this whole post was terrific! LOVE the 'Seed of Hope' idea - that's absolutely wonderful. :D

My vote for favorite picture is the close up of all the “seeds.” Obviously, it’d be great if it doesn’t exist, but each seed looks like a victory, of a life that gets to keep being led. I’m sure there are a bazillion stories in that pod!

So much to like here!

Obviously, I shall begin with the babka...I can't wait to see how it turns out for you. Please let me know if I can offer any guidance along the way (also happy to zoom with you). And how nice that you included this in your food round-up...along with some of the other bits I've recently published - really appreciate it!

The God of the Garden sounds like an interesting read - I will look into it!

I have a lot to say about your connection and experience with your brother - probably way more than I can handle in the comments section - I will put my thoughts to you in an email...

Wishing you much peace...

Thank you, Jack! If I get into a jam (hopefully a cherry one), I will certainly reach out for you to help right my wrongs. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Beautiful shares of food and art! I LOVE the transformation sculpture. It feels close to me right now. I’ve actually got a sketch similar of a girl look up with her hands up, noticing the beauty.

I am in much need of food motivation and delight....thank you for sharing your delights!

I hope you are well returning and give yourself the much needed attention as you help care for your family. I seem to feel you will do just that. With kindness,

Rae

I'm so glad something in this post resonated with you. Food motivation is usually something I need, so I'm grateful for all the wonderful people on Substack who share that!

I was able to be relieved of my duties earlier than anticipated yesterday, so I got home late last night. There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed. My time away definitely renewed my appreciation for so much.

Thanks for your kind words and wishes!
